BMW NBT EVO hard drive repair with SSD replacement
Is your GPS navigation, Bluetooth, or music collection no longer available? The hard drive in your iDrive unit may be at fault. We replace it with a SSD compatible and carry out the complete software configuration of your original unit.

Common symptoms
- GPS navigation is no longer available.
- The Bluetooth function no longer works.

- The iDrive unit sometimes restarts in a loop.
- The diagnostics show the fault code B7F853, with the wording «INTERNAL HARD DISK error».

A complete service, hardware and software
Physically replacing the hard drive is not enough. Our intervention includes all of the following operations:
- Hard drive replacement with a compatible SSD.
- Formatting of the SSD and initialisation on your NBT EVO unit.
- Configuration with the original activation codes corresponding to your unit, without a patched version.
- Loading IBAC data required for the relevant graphical displays.
- Map update Road Map EUROPE EVO 2026.
- Updating the Gracenote music database.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cause of an NBT EVO hard drive failure?
The hard disk may suffer mechanical failure or component wear. Liquid ingress can also damage the unit, for example during cleaning or in the event of a leak from a scent diffuser placed over a ventilation grille.
Located in the upper part of the unit, the hard drive may therefore be affected and show signs of oxidation. Examination of your unit makes it possible to determine whether this repair is appropriate.
Can I replace the hard drive myself?
Physical replacement is only part of the intervention. The real difficulty lies in formatting and initialising the new storage medium, the mapping activation codes and the data required for the displays in question.
A hardware-only replacement or an incomplete initialization may leave some functions unavailable. Our service includes software configuration, your unit's original codes, IBAC data and GPS and Gracenote updates.
Do I have to pay if the repair is impossible?
No. If repair is not possible, you will not be charged any fees.
What should I do if my unit develops another fault?
We also offer complete exchange units if your system is not compatible with this repair or if the fault requires an alternative solution. Contact us to discuss the options suitable for your vehicle.
